CSA: Community Supported Agriculture

Our CSA program gives you access to fresh, high-quality, local produce grown by MSU students in a dynamic and hands-on learning environment. By purchasing a CSA share, you directly support the farm and its students throughout the growing season.

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a business model for small, diversified vegetable farms in which customers (members) pay for a season’s worth of produce, or a "share" of the farm, in advance and receive diverse, fresh, locally grown vegetables weekly for the season. Members share in both the harvest and the risk of planting, tending, and harvesting crops.

For customers, the benefits of this model are a diversified diet, fresher produce, seasonal eating, and a relationship with the farm and farmers who produce their food. For farmers, the benefits are a reliable and flexible market, up-front funds to pay for seeds, supplies, and labor, and a relationship with the end users of their product. The MSU Student Organic Farm CSA model assumes this structure.

We offer a 15-week summer session. Folks who want a taste of CSA without the full season commitment purchase our 5-week 'Peak Season' share.

Each week, you will receive 5 - 10 veggies in your share that reflect the seasonal abundance of the farm. We grow over 40 crops and 100 varieties, meaning each share will be diverse and delicious! We offer Full Share, Half Share, and Student Share options (current MSU Students only). A Half Share offers the same variety as a Full Share but with half the quantity! (i.e. If a Full Share gets 1 lb of kale, a Half Share gets a .5 lb.) The share you get depends on how many people you're trying to feed, your diet, your food preservation goals, etc, but our general recommendation is a Full Share for 2 - 5+ people, and a Half Share and Student Share for 1 - 3+ people. Student Organic Farm CSA members will also have u-pick opportunities. Please read over the CSA Member Terms and Conditions before purchasing a share!

Email msufarm@msu.edu with any questions regarding the CSA.
